What’s Involved?
- Up front 1:1 conversation (45 – 60 minutes) to talk through the specifics of your role; the challenges and opportunities in front of you and how MEWE can help. These objectives often evolve during the workshop, but it’s helpful to have an initial view.
- Two-day workshop. The central focus is how you deal with other people – whether that’s your peers; the people reporting to you; senior leaders or even clients. The starting assumption is that you’ll already be proficient in dealing with most situations – otherwise you wouldn’t be in your current role – but also that there will be areas where you can usefully broaden your repertoire.
- Optional follow-up conversation – usually 3 or 4 weeks after the workshop – to review how you’re managing to put your learning into action.
Key Takeaways
- Each workshop is tailored to the specific attendees. Key outputs from the up-front conversation are one or two action-focussed questions to underpin each individual participant’s work over the two days. Examples would be:
- “How can I maximise my impact as Department Head when my team members were previously my peers?” or
- “How can I do more to ensure that the actions agreed at our team meetings are actually implemented?” or
- “How can I be more authoritative and influential in my interactions with senior leaders?” or
- “How can I create a safe and enjoyable environment for my team while maintaining high standards and the required volume of deliverables?”
- To help address these questions, MEWE is structured around a memorable and action-orientated model which sets out what groups need and how leaders can maximise their effectiveness in different situations.
- The aim is that each participant gains a much better insight into their impact on others.
- Over the two days, each participant has opportunities not just to think and talk about how to do things differently, but to try out modified approaches. This prepares them to take very specific learning points and techniques back to their workplace and put them into practice.
Who’s This For?
- This is an open workshop, with the participants coming from different organisations and functions. An important driver of the learning is to see how the other participants operate – and to get their feedback. Participants’ roles will generally include line management and may extend to strategic / Board-level responsibilities.
